Ten Mile Winter
Ten Mile Range, Colorado
Viewing this image you can almost feel the cold of the Colorado winter. Rustic cabins this high on the mountain were used by 19th century miners seeking the source of the gold that others were finding in the valley's creeks. With extreme snow depths, shots like this aren't easy to get. Gary had to skin up Mayflower gulch near Breckenridge on skis to gain access for this photo. Getting a late day photo at this altitude guarantees a trip down the mountain in the dark.
