Moon Over Mayflower
Fremont Pass, Colorado
Mayflower Gulch is often visited in the summer. There is a relatively easy jeep trail up to some old mining cabins above tree line. In the winter it is a different story. To get to the historic site, one must snowshoe or ski up to the high alpine gulch. Then in order to get the magical alpenglow one must stay until the last drop of light has gone. This particular evening the light was perfect and the chill of the night quickly set in as I skied back to my car in the moonlight.
