Avalanche Gorge
Glacier National Park, MT
Surrounded by a forest of ancient trees, mainly red cedar, hemlock, larch and black cottonwood, and some cedars can rise over 80 feet and are 500+ years old, Avalanche Creek is funneled through this narrow gorge. Ferns and green mosses decorate the walls, like a lush tropical setting. Continue the hike to the top and you are rewarded with views of Avalanche Lake.
